The SIBBALL Summer High School League (SBHSL) is a summer basketball league, which will feature standard 5 on 5 basketball, played in accordance with standard basketball rules, unless otherwise noted.
- There is a guarantee of 7 games, with the possibility of up to 9 games, including playoffs.
- The league is anticipated to start in mid June, 2024 and last through mid August, 2024.
- Teams have the choice to bring their own jerseys, use league jerseys, or order custom uniforms.
- The League fee is due prior to the start date. Contact the League administrator for pricing options.
- The players of the League championship team will receive prizes, and a team trophy for the coach or team captain.
- We will be using IAABO certified Referees, and two referees will officiate each game.
- Game statistics for each game will be kept and provided to the teams/coach.
- For the Varsity Division, Teams must be comprised of players who were in their Junior or Senior of high school in the 2023-2024 school year. Further, no player may be older than 17 years old.
- Teams may have any number of players, however the league fees account for 10 players. If you have more than 10 players, there will be an additional cost for extra jerseys/ uniforms, depending on the Jersey Package you select.
- Every team must have an adult coach, at least 18 years old. These Coaches are not necessarily required to coach basketball strategy if the team chooses, but they will and must be accountable for player conduct and discipline, if any issues arise.
Registration
- Coaches will register their team with SHSL.
- Prior to the first game, all players must submit a Waiver form to be signed by their parent or legal guardian. No player will be allowed to play, without the waiver form being submitted.
Rules Summary
- The games will consist of two, 20-minute halves. The clock will stop in the last 2 minutes of each half, unless the Mercy Rule is in effect (one team has a lead of more than 20 points, etc.), or in the discretion of the League Director, if games are running behind schedule.
- Foul bonus free throws will be shot on the 7th foul, and double bonus will be shot at the 10th foul. A player will foul out of the game on his 5th foul.
- Three time outs per game, plus an addition TO for each overtime period.
